Our Commitment to Giving Beyond Ourselves

In the mid 80's, the people of Epiphany made a commitment to give at least 10% of all pledged income to support Christian ministry beyond the walls of our church. It has not always been easy but, through thick and thin, we have stayed with our commitment and God has always provided. Some of the groups who receive financial gifts from Epiphany are listed below.

	Interfaith Services of Henrico County (ISH)
	Coal Pit Learning Center
	Westminister-Canterbury Friendship Fund
	The South American Mission Society (SAMS)
	McGuire's VA Hospital

Epiphany's Feeding Program

Along with three other Episcopal Churches, Epiphany participates in a feeding program to serve Richmond Area Homeless Shelters. On the first Saturday of every month, and one 5^th Saturday a year, the people of Epiphany prepare 100 bag lunches and deliver them to the shelters. Various parish groups along with three teams of volunteers take turns each month assembling all the food items for each bag. Epiphany is a major supporter of LAMB'S Basket - a food pantry located in the Lakeside area for needy residents of Henrico County. Nonperishable foods are collected at all worship services throughout the month. Epiphany provides volunteers to help with stocking and distribution. Outreach Committee chair Tillie Freeze oversees both of these programs.

Involvement with our Sudanese members

We have formed The Lire Parish Support Group at Epiphany (see under NEWS) and are actively working through this group to help them realize their dream of a new permanent church in their homeland.  We also give monetary support to help with the education of the family members still in the Sudan.

Other Outreach Efforts

Various groups at Epiphany also maintain active and effective outreach ministries. The ECW places a high priority on this ministry. The congregation actively supports The United Thank Offering (UTO). The Acolytes, Church School, and Youth Groups each have special pet projects they have developed. Epiphany contributes to the wider life of the Church through contributions to the Diocese of Virginia and the work of Region XI. The congregation as a whole donated over 200 pounds of toiletries, other personal need items, puzzle books, etc., for the veterans at McGuire's VA Hospital in Thanksgiving for their service, and delivered them for the 4^th of July, 2007.
